Capt. Terria Sanford
Hello and welcome! I’m Terria Sanford, and I’m honored to serve you as the Commander of Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) District 10-Town of Lake Park.
I was born and raised in Belle Glade, Florida, where I discovered my early calling for law enforcement. At age 14, I joined the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office as a Law Enforcement Explorer, a role that planted the seeds for a lifelong commitment to service. I graduated from Glades Central High School in 2006 and then went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Barry University.
In 2009, I officially became a sworn deputy with PBSO. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving in a wide range of assignments, including Road Patrol, Narcotics, Homicide, Gang Unit, and Internal Affairs. Each of these assignments has provided valuable lessons, challenges, and opportunities to grow. With the support of mentors and colleagues, I advanced through the ranks to become a Captain in April of 2025, and now I lead District 10 as the Commander.
Lake Park is a special place. It’s a small town with a big heart. The Town of Lake Park is home to nearly 9,000 residents and features a charming downtown, a marina, and neighborhoods ranging from waterfront living to historic blocks. The town emphasizes walkability, connectivity, and quality of life for its citizens. As Commander, I am deeply committed to ensuring that our law enforcement presence reflects these values and that we are not just guardians, but active partners in preserving Lake Park’s character and ensuring it remains a safe and thriving community.
Leadership is about service. Every day, I strive to foster trust, open communication, and accountability with the Lake Park Community. My passion is to make a positive difference in our community by listening, collaborating, and ensuring the citizens of Lake Park feel safe, respected, and heard.
I look forward to meeting and working with each of you, walking the streets, listening to your stories, addressing any concerns, and receiving your feedback, all while building a partnership that strengthens our community.
